Long story short...

The cars done. I haven't really felt like updating lately. Finished the car last thursday and got it inspected and legal last sunday. The car is a blast to drive, the coils feel sooooo good and the trans shifts so smooth. Sadly, I didn't have the Q45 output shafts, so the diff wasn't working, so I just threw an open in there for the time being. I'm going to need one for winter or else I'll never survive the snow...

Here's underneath the car with the ShaftMasters (HAHA) driveshaft, brand new hardware, etc.

While chilling at Galens, this gem pulled in. Did you ever think you'd see an MX6 look THIS good? Neither did I. Tree also got his FC running and legal as well. Here are some pictures of the three together.

Expect an update tomorrow night or something. We're getting the whole gang to go to York.

What a friday night it was. Of course, I didn't have my real camera, so garbage cell pictures will just have to work. Tom and I cruised up to Josh's house to check out his new S12. Dale showed up and we decided to hit up the circuit. It was pretty lame; typical ricers trying to be cool, etc. We stopped to get gas at the new Rutters and saw a couple of Honda guys chillen, so we decided to hang out. Turns out thats the place to be; it got pretty busy. 469hp single turbo Supra showed up. Turbo Z33; Kevin's new S14 with RB25; turbo MR2 and a couple of other little gems.

Tore out the driveshaft and open diff today. I also threw the viscous unit in. Painted the cover and the bolts. Uneventful, really.

Going out to dinner with the lady here in a few. More updates later.

I've finally found a good use for an open diff!

For when you're too lazy to go find a BFH, you use an open diff to pound in your output shafts.

Tonight we got the car up on ramps. It was pretty interesting trying to push the car up there because the jack is still holding Keegan's subframe up. Got the driveshaft unbolted from the trans to train it. Hmmm what else went down... Oh, my spare diff siezed. wtf. Going to have to pull the one out of the car now and throw the viscious in there; not a biggy but oh well. Going to take a stab at getting the diff and driveline unbolted tomorrow before work.

Finally getting into this blog hype. I'll be updating this with random car stuff etc.

I've owned a 1990 Nissan 240sx since August of 2007. I bought it with 63k original miles, and I am the third owner. Through this car I met a lot of friends, which have guided me in the right direction with the car. My first concern was to get the automatic swapped out. I slowly pieced together the parts. However, in February of 2008 I got into the accident. The car was still drivable but the driver's side quarter panel was messed up. I pretty much lost all motivation and put my money elsewhere. In December of 08 my auto trans started to fail on me so the car sat until this past May while I threw together the most badass 5 speed swap ever seen. $250 worth of OEM hardware, aluminum one piece driveshaft, 88k mile granny owned 5 speed, Q45 VLSD (with a bigger shim) and brand new everything else. My mentality was: "If I'm going to touch it for the swap, it's going to be new." I ended up spending about $1300 just for the 5 speed swap. Yesterday the best parts for the car arrived... Parts Shop Max coilovers. So today my buddy Keegan (owns an S13 coupe, you'll see a lot of his car in this blog), Tree (FC owner, again you'll see more) and I started to tear into the swap.

I was getting everything ready and I sprayed degreaser on the engine bay. Cleaaaaan.

First step was to tuck the fender harnesses cause this bitch will be LOW.

Then we proceeded to remove the auto shift linkage.

While taking it to the trashcan I dropped it a few times. Clumsy me.

And that's how it's going to sit until we have time to work on it again.
